Paint Frida from Toftgård
Frida is a really lovely three year old mare. She was born around 27th March 2011.
Frida has not had an easy start in life. She was bred by an old man on a place, where there were 50 other horses, most Icelandic Horses and Shetland ponies. They walked around without roughage, with loops around their necks, and Frida's mother walked around with a long string in a Rope Halter, because the man then felt that he better could catch her. Frida comes from a neglectcase, and the ones I bought her of saved her back when she was a little foal. And I'm really happy, because otherwise I wouldn't have my beautiful girl.
When they got Frida, she had just lost her mother, and a nurse mare was good for nothing, so they have bottled her up.

Today I was out at Frida again :) Got her groomed really well and she was so sweet when I was cleaning her hooves :) She's gonna be good at it ;)
All the horses were put into pasture and I took some nice pictures of Frida :) Looking forward to she is my :) Just 10 days yet :)

Yes, the day finally came. Today we drove down after Frida, I paid the last 2000 kr., and then she was mine :D
It went okay with getting her away from the other horses, but she was a little confused, but she trusted me :) When she was in the trailer, however, it was somewhat a different story. She has only tried it once before when she was around. 2 months old, and she was probably just lifted when she was nothing but skin and bones. But after she stood for 10 minutes, she came up in the trailer, got some carrots and a lot of praise, and so was the trailer closed quietly behind her, and she was tied.
When we began to drive, she jumped some around in there, and she did that all the way, so it was very well we were not going very far with her. When we opened the door of the trailer, we found out that she had gotten her halter destroyed (it was also only connected together with string where the snap hook usually is), but luckily I had an extra halter in the car, so it was a good excuse to put the fine, new halter on her ;)
I backed her out of the trailer, which she actually did very well, and then another thing she isn't used to came; she was dragged around. Frida is not used to being dragged along, and a brand new place with new horses, so well, ypu would also be a bit up and running if you were only 2 years old ;) But I got her pulled a bit, showing her where some of the fence was and so I let her go. She ran directly down to the other horses, and then it started ;) They were actually more afraid of her at first, but then they started to run after her ;) Right now she is not larger than that she can slip under the fence but after she got some shock of the fence, she got the point ;) However, the fence is also put down now, so she does not slip under ;)
But was down and look for her at. 17:30 and again at. 19:30 and she looked quite nice :) She is a little away from the other horses yet, and right now the herd split up, so she just goes with the one right now :) However, they closed together all tomorrow again, but it'll go fine ;) And the fence is still standing ;)

Today I have for the first time had a bridle on Frida; D
She did so well in to the bite, there was nothing there. She munched a bit, but yes, can be it had just one link too much to keep track of when you are only two years old :) I'll try a two-part next time :)
We also went for a walk for the first time :) It's amazing how quick she is when I got her 20 days ago, she could not stand tied, could not get her hooves cleaned or being pulled with, and now she can all things, and more: D Simply so proud of my little pony girl :)
It was not a long trip, more for her to learn to be dragged, and get outside the pasture, and then she could also get used to the bridle :) Had a Rope Halter under the bridle, so there was no contact to the bit :)
Update: 24/06/2013
Today we have again been out walking ;) She was sooo fine, and is simply so good: D! Had again the rope halter beneath it do not want any contact with the bit yet, she should just get used to it, the contact to the bit comes later ;)
Had ordered her first tack here a few days ago and it came in the post today ;) It's just a cheap mexican bridle from TIKA, but it does not exactly have to cost several 100 kr. when she's still growing ;) But fine it is ;)
Should of course try the bridle on her, and oh she looks good ;) Brown is her color x3
Tried with a two-bite this time, and she took just as fine in against the bite as last time, and munched a little, but there was a little more peace in her mouth this time, I think she must have a two-bite, and goes on with this bit until she is starting to be ridden, for that I'm considering very strongly a Fullcheek two-part :)
Update: 07/06/2013
Again we have been out on a walk ;) This time without tack, so just in Rope Halter, and so obviously associated with Duchess (another horse) behind :) The two horses just can't do without each other ;)
Also got 'weighted' Frida today and the measuring tape said 339 kg :) Do not really know whether it is appropriate for a colt by her size, but she does look nice out :) And of course you can not rely 100% on the target, so that would be 50 kg + / - ;)
Update: 07/09/2013
Today we have for the second time had girth on Frida :) I took our lungering girth, and so she got it on :) She said nothing, and did not mind walking around with it :)
It's just so nice that I have a colt that is SO easy to deal with :)
Update: 16/04/2014
Some time since I've written in here :-)
In the time that has passed, many things have happened. First, Frida has had the saddle on for the first time, and she didn't even flick an ear about it :-D!
And I've also been up on her back for the first time, again she said nothing to it :-D!
It's just so exiting to have that young a horse, and yeah, Frida is just one of a kind, she's so cool about every thing, my mother says that you shouldn't think Frida is so young, because she's taking all the things so well :-D
I can truly say that I'm a very proud pony-owner :-)
