    Courage D´amour loves to swim.
    This is him:

Some are power swimmers, while others are elegant and graceful. Courage D´amour is a power swimmer. All horses benefit from it, it is very good for their muscles.
The most obvious benefit to swimming over riding is the fact that when swimming a horse, you put no compression on their joints, which makes them last longer.
Swimming can offer your horse a welcome change to the usual training, and it can freshen up a tired or stale horse that may have been in hard training.
Horses are able to exercise without supporting their own body weight, which enables them to build muscle tone and improve their fitness without putting pressure or strain on their back and joints.

Swimming your horse has the following advantages:

    - Improves their cardio vascular system

    - Improves overall fitness as all the muscles, tendons and ligaments are evenly worked

    - Improves respiration

    - Improves circulation

    - Improves strength, conditioning, joint and soft tissue flexibility

    - Horses can be thoroughly exercised without the jarring that hard ground causes

    - A low impact way to recondition a horse after injury or surgery

In Denmark we use horseswimming a lot! Especially for the icelandic horses. They are away for a 14 days period, right before we take them to the show to get them approved for breeding. It gets them very fit and is good for all the right muscles.
It is also used after injuries, and after the horse has had a long break from training.
Its good for a lot of things, and if you do a google search for articles, you can proberbly find a lot more info about it.
Here in Denmark we have lots of centers all over the country were you can get different types of treatment and training.
